Department of Health - National Minimum Standards and Regulations
Issued by the Department of Health, these publications set out the National Minimum Standards and Regulations for the health service, which the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) use to determine whether service providers have in place appropriate safeguards and quality assurance arrangements.
The regulations and standards are published in accordance with the Care Standards Act 2000 and are issued for a range of health service providers.
National Minimum Standards and Regulations
To enforce standards, the National Care Standards Commission has the authority to report any breaches in the regulations, and in respect of local authorities, to the Secretary of State.
Care Homes for Older People
While broad in scope, these standards acknowledge the unique and complex needs of individuals and the additional specific knowledge, skills, and facilities needed in order for a care home to deliver an individually tailored and comprehensive service.
